The event will feature a classic car show beginning at 10 a.m., at 2 p.m. the classic cars will cruise the square in parade style fashion, beginning at 3 p.m. Richard Strong will host a private viewing of a classic movie at the Fiske Theatre, everyone is invited to attend. Evening activities will kick-off at 5 p.m. with live music, and around 7:30 everyone is encouraged to cruise the square like old times. The Little Freezer will have special running all day.
For several decades cruising the square was the popular thing to do for teens in West Carroll Parish on weekend nights after the movie. Event organizers hope to bring that atmosphere back to downtown Oak Grove, if only just for a night.
“Many romances, heartaches and families began by cruising the square,” Event Organizer Richard Strong Sr. said. “I have had several people tell me with the theatre back open that it would be fun to spend at least one night doing what we used to do and cruise the square. We plan on making this an event the whole family will enjoy.”
